YOUNG sporting stars were honoured for their efforts and achievements at an awards evening at St Katherine’s School.

Pupils at the Pill school were nominated by PE staff and saw recognition given to those who had achieved great things in individual and team sports. Awards were also given to those who had shown great commitment and leadership.

The guest speaker for the evening was former professional footballer, Bobby Gould, who now lives in Portishead. British snowboarder Jamie Barrow was also on hand to give out the gongs for special recognition.

Head of PE, Barry Excell said: “Last year we hosted our first ever sports awards evening and it was a huge success. Once again, a year on, it is an absolute privilege to continue to work with students that show the enthusiasm and devotion that St Katherine’s students show towards their PE and sport.

“The tireless commitment and unwavering enthusiasm our students demonstrate for PE and sport is hugely energising for us as PE teachers.”
