AN after school science cafe in Portishead gave students the opportunity to explore topics of interest.
Gordano School pupils in years nine and 10 enjoyed a thought-provoking talk about synthetic biology by Nigel Savery, a biochemist from the University of Bristol, before taking part in an open forum.
Subjects discussed ranged from ethical issues within the industry to more practical discussions about how to follow a career in scientific research.
The event was organised as part of Gordano’s provision for Gifted and Talented students, along with the North Somerset Independent State School Partnership (ISSP).
