Donkey rides, hair-braiding and tasty homemade cakes were enjoyed by families at a Nailsea school’s fair.

The Friends of St Francis Primary School hosted the annual summer fair which attracted children, parents, grandparents and friends for a day of family fun.

The school field was filled with children who queued up to have their hair braided and their faces painted.

There was a bouncy castle, craft stalls and a number of games to keep children entertained.

Pupils in years five and six, who had taken part in the school’s young apprenticeship scheme, ran their own stalls to sell their products and raise money for school funds.

Families tucked into barbecue food and cakes and tried to win prizes on the tombola.

Pupils were also delighted to throw wet sponges at headteacher Caroline Hostein when she put her head in the stocks.
