Lucky Portishead pupils are enjoying some of the finest school meals in the region.
That is because Jane Edney, who works at St Peter’s Primary School, last week received a highly-commended award for her main course, which consisted of a tapas trio of pork meatballs, southern fried croquettes and vegetable boats, served with a spicy tomato dipping sauce.
Jane was competing in the South West final of the LACA School Chef of the Year in Plymouth on January 19.
Although she failed to take the title, her tasty efforts impressed judges.
A competition spokesman said: “The highly-commended main course prepared by Jane was judged to be of a very professional standard and expertly executed.”
