A Portishead nursery has won an award for its nature work.

Stationhouse Nursery has been given RHS accreditation after impressing experts with its work.

The nursery had to complete five stages over a number of months to get the award. They included getting the children to write about outdoor spaces and getting families involved in gardening.

Nursery manager Tia Claridge said the staff and children have ‘worked tirelessly’ to get the accreditation.

The children have enjoyed bug hunts and making habitats over recent weeks as part of the nursery’s RHS project.

In return for receiving the award, the RHS has provided the nursery with £200 worth of plants.

Stationhouse plans to build on its five-star rating and continue to encourage children to get outside and grow their own plants and vegetables.
