RED was the colour of the day at a Portishead school where pupils supported a national fundraising initiative.

St Joseph’s Primary School took part in the British Heart Foundation’s Wear It, Beat It day to raise awareness and funds for heart research.

Children wore red by adding bright red accessories including socks, ties and hair bands to their navy and gold uniforms. They also hosted a coffee morning and raffled off several prizes, including a red-themed hamper created by school staff, to help boost funds.

The Bristol Road school’s chaplaincy group also ran a competition which saw pupils creating Lego models of bible stories to support the charity.
