CHILDREN from across North Somerset are joining forces for a night of song and dance.

More than 600 youngsters from 20 primary schools in the region will perform at the Colston Hall in Bristol in the 38th annual Music Association of Woodspring Schools (MAWS) concert on March 20.

This year’s concert, which begins at 7.30pm, has a varied programme based around a theme of musicals.

A choir of around 350 children will be supported by dancers and three instrumental groups, a string orchestra, wind band and a guitar ensemble, prepared by North Somerset Music Service.

MAWS secretary Susan Jones said: “The concert is a model of inter-school co-operation, where the pooling of talents of children and staff leads to a very enjoyable experience for everyone.”

Tickets for the event are available from participating schools or from the Colston Hall box office on the night, but as the event is always a complete sell-out, early purchase is recommended.
