THREE pupils from a Portishead school have been chosen to play in the National Children’s Orchestra (NCO) this year.
Out of 1,100 applicants, Gordano School pupils Rebekah Hinchcliffe, Inga Szmigiel and Cameron Chandler are three of the 520 successful musicians accepted.
Rebekah, who plays trumpet, violinist Inga, and percussionist Cameron will have the opportunity to play in a full symphony orchestra at major venues in the UK.
The NCO, based in Weston, brings together seven to 13-year-olds from across the country, providing musical opportunities guided by top, professional musicians.
A school spokesman said: “Our congratulations go to all three musicians. It is very unusual and amazing to have three pupils from one school chosen for the NCO.”
