KNITTING has been introduced to pupils at a Portishead school.
Following reports that traditional skills like knitting, darning and sewing are in decline, pupils at St Peter’s Primary School voted to set up a knitting group as part of their wider community project.
Youngsters at the school have formed community groups to get involved in activities to help organisations outside school and as part of this, members of the knitting group, under the instruction of teaching assistant Jo Birkenhead, are producing knitted blankets for cats at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Barrow Gurney.
