YEAR FIVE students at High Down Junior School in Portishead spent the day dressed as World War Two evacuees as part of their history project.
The youngsters visited the Steam Museum in Swindon to experience how the evacuees might have felt as they left home and boarded the steam train to safer ground.
Ruby Williams aged 10 said: “It was a good day out but I’m pleased I wasn’t in the war. It sounds scary for the children who had to live away from their mums and dads.”
