Pupils’ egg-cellent idea is paying off
ENTERPRISING pupils from Flax Bourton have been selling eggs to parents to make some extra money.
A team of egg heads from Flax Bourton Primary School look after eight hens on the site and collect up the eggs to sell to parents.
Bristol Airport gave the school a 1,000 grant to set up the project helps which teaches them about animal welfare as well as giving them a taste of the business world.
Money from the egg sales is used to buy chicken food and equipment and the school is soon hoping to open a bank account for the business so the children can learn to keep track of the finances and make decision on how to spend the profits.

Florrie Dodds, one of the school’s egg heads, said: “I really like looking after the chickens. We get about three-four eggs a day and we normally sell them all.”
The eggs are sold on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons.
