Plans to expand Portishead’s only secondary school have been backed.
Portishead Town Council’s planning committee voted to support Gordano School’s plans to increase capacity for pupils.
The school wants to knockdown part of its site and in its place build a canteen, library and study area for sixth form students.
The planning application, which will be decided ultimately by North Somerset Council, received support from the town council’s planning members.
It believes the project would be ‘welcome’ and hopes North Somerset will give it the green light.
