A DEDICATED teacher at Tickenham Primary School has retired after more than 20 years at the school.

Christine Bryant has worked in Tickenham since 1989 and made many friends in the village during that time.

The Nailsea resident said she will take away a huge number of memories with her including many of the music concerts she has helped arrange and how the school buildings have changed at the Clevedon Road site since she first started.

Christine said: “It is just such a lovely place to work and I have always felt happy here - it has that kind of atmosphere.

“The school ethos is very strong and that comes through in all aspects and all work we do.

“I have always enjoyed working with people in the village and at the church as well.”

Christine, who has spent most of her time in Tickenham teaching children aged seven to nine, will return to the school part-time in September to carry out one-to-one teaching and will also be on the supply teacher list.

She also plans to spend some of her spare time gardening and cooking.

At a retirement party, which was attended by almost 100 past pupils and people from the village, Christine was presented with a number of presents including gardening vouchers and vouchers for a cookery course.

She was also given a memory book, which had been written in by pupils, parents, teachers and other people in Tickenham well-known to Christine.
