A new scheme has been introduced at a primary school in Clevedon to help younger pupils ‘thrive’.

Pupils in years four and five at Yeo Moor Primary School, in Kennaway Road, have been trained in peer tutoring and have been holding weekly sessions with their link pupils in years one and two.

The peer tutors help their younger pupils in a range of subjects.

Headteacher Roland Lovatt said: “This peer tutor scheme is working incredibly well and we are very proud of all the pupils involved.

“It helps build friendships across the years and to enable
pupils to thrive in every way.”

The school has also been praised by the Regional Schools Commission which highlighted its learning methods, curriculum and leadership.

It has also seen a 19 per cent increase in the number of pupils achieving top grades in the past four years.
