New classrooms for Backwell pupils
EXCITED youngsters from Backwell moved into their brand new classrooms this week.
The year three pupils had previously been having lessons in the school’s original primary school building, which was built in 1862.
But after nine months of building work the children were able to move into the new classrooms which are more modern, warmer and also boast new furniture and white boards.
To mark the school’s 150th anniversary next year, staff are starting a fund-raising drive to modernise the former primary school building on site.
The school is appealing for donations from members of the community and businesses to help it raise 50,000.
Staff hope to update the building by next year and turn it into music rooms for the youngsters. Anyone interesting in donating to the appeal can call the school on 01275 462632.
