A RISING soccer star from Backwell cheered his former school team to victory in an annual inter-schools competition.
Bristol City’s newest star Joe Bryan presented the trophy to excited year five players at Fairfield School’s football tournament, held at Yatton Football Club.
Six local schools took part in the knockout competition which saw Fairfield’s A Team emerge the champions after a tense final against Northleaze Primary, from Long Ashton.
The former Fairfield pupil was said to be ‘delighted’ to watch the youngsters playing and happily signed autographs and chatted to them in between matches.
