Plans to build a new dining facility at Portishead’s Gordano School have been approved.
The school wants to provide a better canteen and will also improve sixth form facilities as part of the building project.
An old single-storey classroom block will be torn down to make way for the new building.
North Somerset Council’s planning committee unanimously voted in favour of the school’s application at a planning meeting on April 12.
Building work will not however be allowed to start until an archeological survey is carried out around the surrounding area.
