Nailsea School has been awarded £5,000 to enable it to become more energy efficient.
The school, in Mizzymead Road, has been given the grant for the first stage of its glow greener project.
The money has come from the community benefit fund, which was set up by Low Carbon Gordano (LCG).
LCG was set up to promote carbon-saving measures in the community. Any money the scheme makes must be allocated to a community benefit fund which is used to support other carbon-saving initiatives.
The grant will enable the school to buy LED lightbulbs for its dance studio.
It is the first phase of a wider project to make the school more energy efficient.
The scheme has also been shortlisted for the Marks and Spencer community energy fund, which relies on public votes. To vote for the school visit www.mandsenergyfund.com/projects/glow-greener-at-nailsea-school-1
