Clever youngsters of a Nailsea school have received Government recognition.

Key stage two pupils from Kingshill School, in Pound Lane, were sent a letter from the Government’s minister of state for schools, Nick Webb, after coming in the top two per cent of high achievers in the country.

The letter congratulated the school on the ‘excellent progress’ made in SATs results for 2017.

Headteacher Jan Thomson said: “We are very proud to receive this honour and it is testament to our hard-working staff and pupils.

“To come in the top two per cent nationally is such a huge achievement.

“Parents have been thrilled to see how far their children have come with us.”

The letter noted how pupils’ SATs results had been ‘very high across the board’.

Its latest Ofsted report, from January 2015, found the school to be a ‘good’ service provider overall with pupils’ behaviour deemed ‘outstanding’.
