NAILSEA children stepped back into 1940s war time during a visit to the Swindon Steam Museum.
Year three pupils from Golden Valley Primary School dressed in clothes typical of the era and were kitted out with gas mask boxes, identity cards and ration books.
They learnt about being an evacuee, rationing and the role of steam trains in the way.
The children also went inside a mock-up Anderson shelter with the correct heat and humidity, to add to the experience. This visit was arranged in conjunction with the current year three project, Bombs Overhead, which focuses on teaching the children about the events of World War Two.
