EXPERIMENTAL students are enjoying lessons in a newly-refurbished science laboratory at Backwell School thanks to The Wolfson Foundation.
The charity supports and promotes excellence in the fields of science and medicine, health and disability, education and the arts and humanities.
Backwell School was given a grant to transform one of its 1950s labs into a Rosalind Franklin laboratory aimed at inspiring students to take their scientific studies to the next level.
The contemporary facility is more like a university laboratory and has been named after Rosalind Franklin as her biological developments have captured the students’ interest.
Its design has wet practical areas and a flexible central classroom space to reflect the practical and group work students are likely to take part in at university.
