CHILDREN made vegetable-themed hats and learnt special songs to celebrate the harvest.

Pupils from West Leigh Infant School in Backwell invited their parents into class for a special assembly to celebrate the harvest festival.

Youngsters performed songs and poems to suit the season and also brought in gifts for people in need.

The food donations were presented to Mr Angel from Crisis Centre Ministries in Bristol, who talked to the children about the charity’s work.

Crisis Centre Ministries helps the homeless and people affected by drug addiction. The charity runs a drop-in centre which serves hot meals, staff help people to find emergency and supported accomodation and runs life skills courses.
