Adventurous youngsters from a Portishead secondary school learned life-saving skills which will help them pick up a coveted award.
Students from Gordano School working towards their gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award have been taking part in first aid training of late.
The training is part of a pilot scheme which hopes to equip youngsters with vital skills.
Lord-Lieutenant Charlie Gazzard led the first aid training at the school.
He said: “To be able to provide a wider audience with life-saving first aid skills at the same time as helping them complete their DofE awards is an absolute privilege of mine.
“The gold DofE students had four three-hour sessions of first aid so they are ready to pass on their knowledge to younger years.
“I really hope the scheme continues to grow and attract interest so we can spread such important skills as far as we can.”
