Clever engineers at Gordano School performed well in the 2016 National Student Robotics competition.
Pupils at the Portishead school competed against 45 other schools and colleges in 18 head-to-heads.
The school’s year 13 pupils excelled and made it to the knockout rounds on day two of the contest.
Ultimately, the team of Ed Burnham, Callum Blake-Symes, James Cant, Adam Griffiths and Ryan Skidmore finished in third place.
The year 12 team, consisting of Will Bath, James Carr, Ben Carey, Emily Dickens, Isaac Evans and Jay Ragoo made it the quarter-final stage.
