YOUNG footballers in Portishead have reached the next stage of a national competition after triumphing in a tournament final.
The girls football team at High Down Junior School, North Somerset’s champions, travelled to Bridgwater to take part in the next round of the National Competition Framework for Girls Football.
They faced six games before reaching the final against Tatworth from which the Portishead girls came out triumphant following a deciding penalty shoot-out.
The team will now go on to level four of the competition, which is the precursor for the final level five national contest.
