Footballers have been making use of their new goalposts in Backwell.

Members of Backwell Athletic Junior Football Club received a grant from the Football Association (FA) facilities fund, sponsorship from Lloyds Bank and a donation from a parent.

Club chairman James Howard said: “Having previously replaced the other set of heavy old posts several years ago, we were keen to do the same with the remaining pair, however the cost is not insignificant and being able to do so without increasing the cost of membership when football is competing with so many other activities is a real plus.

“This ensures we can continue to provide a safe environment for the players and the posts should last us for many years to come.”

The club has more than 200 members aged five to 16.
