Business students at Clevedon School raised thousands of pounds for charity by hosting a celebration of local culinary delights.
The Clevedon School Midsummer Festival of Local Food and Drink raised money for two charities – Motivation and Mend the Gap – with a total of £2,000 being made.
About 80 people were treated to a delicious four-course meal which was organised by a group of business students known as Team Equinox as a way of giving them event management experience.
Ciaran Garvin, team member, said: “As a team we demonstrated many different skills from running this business event, such as communication, leadership and teamwork.
“We’d like to thank Tim Down of Bristol Wholesale Fruit Centre, all the businesses for their donations and the business staff at Clevedon School. Without them the event wouldn’t have been so successful.”
Chris Blake, assistant subject co-ordinator for business, added: “The event was a huge success in which the students gained a phenomenal amount of real world business experience but also succeeded in raising both awareness and funding for Mend the Gap and Motivation. There is no substitute in the classroom for hands-on experience in preparing our students for the competitive environment they face in their next career steps.”
