A POPULAR lunch-time supervisor was given a big send-off after 35 years of service at Nailsea School.
Mary Thomas, who also celebrated her 80th birthday on the week she left, hung up her apron for the final time as she left to enjoy her retirement.
Mary was presented with a scrapbook full of messages and photos from the students, which was put together by year 11 student Sam Ford.
She was also given a bouquet of flowers, and a chocolate birthday cake made by the catering students.
Headteacher David New paid tribute to Mary stating that she was ‘cherished by the students’. He said: “Thirty-five years at Nailsea School is a huge achievement, and this was a great double celebration.”
