YOUNGSTERS in Pill were given a glimpse into the world of parenthood when they looked after flour babies for a week.

Children in years five and six at Crockerne Primary School are currently studying a topic focusing on growth, development and biology as well as sex education.

As part of this, they were all given the responsibility of looking after a flour baby, made from a 500g bag of flour, to raise awareness of how much time, thought and effort is put into looking after children.

Each day their baby was weighed to make sure it had not been dropped, gotten wet or leaked and they also had to be taken to school everyday and either supervised by the children or booked into a crèche. The youngsters were also encouraged to share babysitting duties.
