St Katherine’s Primary School in Pill has become the first school to have five students selected to be interviewed for the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship.
The scholarship is an international scheme and rewards all successful students with a bursary to support them throughout their A-levels as well as mentoring from industrial engineers.
Qualifying for the first round of the scholarship alone can earn students a place at top engineering universities.
David Oyns, regional liaison officer for the Arkwright Scholarships Trust, said: “When the quality of student applicants from all over the UK and overseas is considered the result achieved by St Katherine’s youngsters is amazing.”
