Two Clevedon school pupils won this year’s debating competition, organised by North Somerset MP Dr Liam Fox.
The Conservative Cabinet member’s annual contest was won by Hannah Filer and Ella Gardner and the pair will enjoy a trip to Westminster later this year.
Fellow pupil David Bell and Jasmine Maheson, from St Katherine’s School in Pill, will also enjoy a trip to the capital after impressing.
Dr Fox, who took on the speaker’s role at Churchill Academy and Sixth Form, said: “This year saw top performances from our schools.
“I am proud and impressed by what our young people have achieved and the by hard work they and their teachers put into the debates.”
The contest was established 25 years ago – the year after Dr Fox was elected as then Woodspring MP for the first time. He chose to set it up having enjoyed similar competitions when he grew up.
