BEARS, tigers, owls and bees were among the creatures that took over a classroom in Portishead as children learnt about animals and their habitats.

Year two pupils at Trinity Primary School enjoyed a wow day based on their latest class topic entitled Home or Habitat.

They attended class dressed as animals, made bug hotels, and created desert art using sandpaper and cocktail sticks.

Arctic habitats were also made out of shaving foam and plasticine and the youngsters also learnt about the different conditions within the habitats and how animals adapt to their environment.

Wow days are held to engage pupils and ignite their imagination when learning about a new subject.
