Three Backwell students were given an insight into engineering following a trip to GE Oil and Gas, based in Nailsea.
The girls from Backwell joined students from other North Somerset schools to take part in Women in Engineering Day.
The group was given a tour of the site and listened to female employees talk about their careers.
Pupils were also set a challenge to build a water wheel.
