CONTRACTORS working at Gordano School joined forces with staff and community members to re-create a secret garden for use in the school’s curriculum.
Willmott Dixon Construction is currently building a new extension at the school, which will see the addition of a 2million, two storey classroom extension.
The company, known in the industry for its involvement with communities, was approached by school representatives who asked for a skip, to aid them in clearing an outdoor teaching space and returning it to its former glory as a school garden.
Recognising the community value of the project, Willmott Dixon decided to go a little further than offering a skip and enlisted the help of its management trainees to take part in a major, week-long, clear-out operation and create walkways through the area.
School staff and local community members then joined the Willmott Dixon team for a weekend garden-in to finish the preparatory works.
