Pupils from the latest primary school to receive 100 books from the Times are ‘thrilled’ with the donation.
Crockerne Primary School in Pill has been given scores of new reads through the Times’ Books For Schools campaign.
Juliet Alcock, the school’s reading champion, believes they will make a big difference.
She said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this month’s books from the Books For Schools appeal.
“The children at Crockerne Primary School love reading for pleasure and this appeal has been so encouraging for them.
“We are looking forward to enjoying the books in our school library.”
The school runs a number of initiatives to encourage children to read for pleasure including weekly class slots in the school library, a lunchtime book club for vulnerable learners and outdoor reading sessions.

Children who read to an adult at least four times a week can win certificates and awards, pupils are also given the chance to take part in an extreme reading competition and the school is also on the waiting list for a reading dog.
The Times has given out 600 books to primary schools across North Somerset since the campaign was launched in October last year.

Schools can sign up to win books by emailing vicky.angear@archant.co.uk with details about the reading schemes they run.
Schools who have already received books are welcome to enter the scheme again.
Evidence shows pupils who can read well do better at school across all subjects.
Reading for pleasure also helps children to develop empathy and social skills.
Due to funding cuts, schools are constantly struggling to find money for extra resources.

The Times launched the Books For Schools campaign to enable cash-strapped schools to offer a wider variety of books to pupils.
Thanks to generous readers and community groups, the Times has given out 100 books to a school each month.
We are always looking for donations of books and vouchers to help more pupils.
Donations can be handed in to the Times office in Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon Community Bookshop, in Copse Road, and Portishead Town Council office in Folk Hall, High Street.
