YOUNGSTERS at St Peter’s Primary School in Portishead have begun their countdown to the 2012 Olympics.
Pupils took delivery of 15 flags after the school was split into cross year-group teams and given a country involved in the Olympics to represent.
The flags will be displayed as part of the initial celebrations and then used in the school’s Olympic opening ceremony.
Olympic activities co-ordinator and class teacher Beth Wood said: “The Olympics has given us a great focus for international studies and the children are extremely excited about representing their new country team.
“Our Olympic celebrations will conclude with a three-day event in the summer when pupils will compete to become the St Peter’s Olympic champions.”
