The story of Clevedon’s iconic pier will be brought to life in a stage show next week.

Time And Tide is Clevedon's first community opera, which reveals the history of the pier after its devastating collapse and the battle to rebuild it.

Schoolchildren from Clevedon have also played their part - acting and singing sections of the opera which have been created by Mark Lawrence and Claire Williamson to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the pier.

Pupils from St John's and St Nicholas Chantry primary schools will perform the piece on October 24-25 at Princes Hall, in Princes Road, along with a community chorus from Clevedon School and Clevedon Choral.

Time And Tide is supported by an orchestra from the North Somerset Youth Music Ensembles, RE:ACT Theatre Group, Clevedon Lions' Brass Band, Richard Lennox on piano and guest soloists Martin Le Poivedon and Esther Mallet.

Tickets, priced £5-10, are at timeandtideclevedon.wordpress.com or from Clevedon Music Shop, in Alexandra Road.
