School sports team progresses to county championship

Two Clevedon primary school football teams did their school proud at a recent competition.
Students from Mary Elton Primary School boys team are through to the county championship after fending off competition and placing first at a tournament at Clevedon School, in Valley Road.
The team will compete against other schools from across the South West in the sporting contest.
The girls team also competed the following week and did the school proud.
After five hard-fought matches, they secured second place.
PE co-ordinator Mike Flory said: “From the start of the tournament to the very end, the girls played their hearts out.”
A school spokesman added: “They showed Mary Elton is definitely a force to be reckoned with.”

The boys team will face their next competition in the coming weeks in a big to secure a county title.
