Children made flags, hats and a feathery parrot to celebrate the start of their project on pirates.
Reception children from Golden Valley Primary School in Nailsea enjoyed dressing up in bandanas and hats and pretending to set sail for treasure.
Staff also dressed as pirates to celebrate the occasion.
The pupils played games, learnt songs and dug for treasure.
They were also able to climb on the wooden pirate shop in the school playground to put their adventure stories into action.
