Marvin Elliott and Liam Fontaine performed the ceremony at Ravenswood School, which is having three new classrooms built at a cost of £450,000.

The footballers were assisted by pupil Ben, aged 14, who won a school drawing competition on how the new classrooms should look.

Some lucky children were also given the opportunity to enjoy a football session with Bristol City Football Club coaches before the event.

Headteacher Philippa Clark said: “This is a thrilling development for the school and will give us the extra space and modern facilities needed for 21st century learning.”
