A PILE of shoe boxes packed full with Christmas gifts have been donated by Nailsea schoolchildren.

Youngsters at Hannah More Infant School have created 100 boxes as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal. During the past two months, the teachers and pupils have worked to collect a range of items needed for the boxes from toothbrushes to teddies and scarves to soaps.

Volunteers from Holy Trinity Church then joined a willing group of parents and grandparents to wrap the boxes.

Year two pupils enjoyed choosing gifts and packing the boxes and all reception and year one children made cards for each recipient.

Schools councillors will now have the chance to visit the distribution warehouse from which the boxes are sent to children in poorer countries.
