A Clevedon primary school has welcomed 12 chicks to the classroom.

All Saints Primary School in All Saints Lane took delivery of 14 eggs and an incubator from a local farmer.

Since the eggs were delivered 12 have hatched, with every pupil able to watch, meaning children now have a group of baby chicks to help look after.

A school spokesman said: “In early January, farmer Nick delivered 14 eggs and an incubator to the school, and the children have been busy monitoring the humidity and temperature of the environment in anticipation of them hatching.

“Eight chicks hatched on their due date of January 31 with another four arriving on Thursday.

“Every child in the school had the opportunity to watch an egg hatch.”

Pupils have also named the chicks with some known as Apple, Button, Coco Pops, Doughnut, Eclair, Fudge, Gummy Bear, Haribo and Lollipop.
