CHANGES could be afoot for a Portishead school after the resignation of its headteacher.

Jon Wood left High Down Junior School in December, leaving both North Somerset Council and the governing body investigating the best way forward for the 361-pupil school.

At a meeting on Friday, the council’s children and young people’s services policy and scrutiny panel is expected to recommend that officers work with the governing body to consider partnership opportunities with other schools including High Down Infant and Gordano schools. This could include an amalgamation with High Down Infant School.

A public consultation period will follow once further investigations have been completed.
