STUDENTS from Gordano School in Portishead organised a celebration of Extended Learning.
Year seven pupils displayed projects including work submitted as part of a contest for the new Extended Learning system, formerly known as homework.
The new system which allows students more freedom and creativity in their work, involves projects set with longer deadlines and also offers a reward system.
During the celebration evening, nine finalists presented their work to a panel of judges.
The top three students were Sophie Olver with an invention to prevent the need to get out of bed to turn off the light, Ellie Bailey with a tribute to Matt Groening, celebrated creator of the Simpsons, and the winner was Helen Fairs with a personal tribute to the Cookie Monster.
Over the year, nearly 40 students won prizes ranging from lunch with the headteacher to Mall vouchers as part of an incentive scheme.
