A village preschool has been handed a cash boost to help pay for vital repairs.

Congresbury Community Preschool (CCP) was awarded a £778 grant by Congresbury Parish Council at its meeting on Monday.

The parish council allocated its entire remaining grant budget for the financial year to the preschool to help pay for costly roof repairs.

CCP runs two services in the village, at St Andrew’s School and in a cabin, and the latter requires £6,500 of repairs to its roof.It has managed to raise almost £1,100 through online pledges, which has been topped up by parish council funding.

Eva Huxtable, CCP chairman, revealed it may have to close the cabin imminently because the roof could collapse.

Prior to the grant being unanimously approved, council chairman Diana Hassan said: “We’ve got the money in the grant budget; we should give it to them and then see what we can do in next year’s budget.”
