Budding engineers awarded

FOUR girls from Nailsea School were crowned winners after designing an energy efficient playground.

As part of climate change week John Buttivant from the Environment Agency ran a workshop with the students on the possible effects of climate change over the next 40 years.

The year eight pupils then worked with engineers from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers to come up with solutions to help combat the problems of climate change.

A group of four girls were chosen as the winners after designing a children’s playground which would generate energy for the national grid. They were presented with trophies and eco-friendly prizes.
