Clevedon School pupils have been taking part in a public speaking competition.

The annual event, organised by the town’s rotary club, saw pupils from years seven to nine talking about topics including dementia, doping in sport and the London transport system.

Yvonne Kingston, rotary club president, said: “The club acknowledges the support of the Walton Park Hotel for hosting the event and of the club members for their contributions with time keeping and stewarding. But most importantly the future looks very bright for this country if these participants are representative of our young people today.

“They were brilliant.”
