Entrepreneurs with a sweet tooth have been rewarded after developing and selling their new brands of biscuits to market experts at Portishead’s Waitrose supermarket.

As part of their class topic called Earth Matters, year five pupils at St Peter’s Primary School have been analysing food products and discussing sustainability. They developed a new biscuit product and took their concept through the full design process before eventually selecting one from each group to develop into a business.

Roles were assumed ranging from managing director to sales representatives and all 10 groups had the chance to pitch their plans for parents, teachers and a panel of dragons made up of year six students.

Two finalists were then chosen to visit Waitrose where they sold their ideas to market experts, with them deciding they would invest in both businesses if they had the chance.
