BACKWELL School is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors rated it outstanding in all categories.
A team of inspectors visited the school and sixth form and were so impressed they gave it the highest rating in achievement, behaviour, teaching and leadership.
The report states: “In this outstanding school, all groups of students thrive, achieve highly and are very well prepared for the next stage of their education.”
“Teaching is outstanding because staff are highly ambitious for each student and totally committed in their aim to get the best out of each and every one.”
Headteacher Julian Baldwin is delighted with the rating. He said: “Backwell School is not a collection of buildings.
“It is a living community for the people who work in it, learn in it and thrive in it - it is this community that has been judged so highly.
“Obviously, I am very proud to be the headteacher of a school judged to be outstanding, but this accolade should be celebrated by everyone connected to the school.”
