Backwell School sixth form students visited DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury to learn about the hospitality industry.

They were treated to a tour of the venue and presentations from its senior management.

Forming part of their business and economics A-level course, the students asked staff about their roles and what changes and investments owner Nick Taplin had made since taking over in 2003.

Mehmet Kandemir, general manager at Cadbury said: “It’s always great to welcome students from our schools. Visiting venues like ours provides them with a vital insight into how businesses work.”

Daniel East, assistant headteacher at Backwell School added: “Visits like this enables our students to see first-hand how businesses really work. We can teach the theory but to see it in practice helps improve studies and units of work the students produce.”
